French Bullion, French Wire, Gimp
French Bullion (aka French Wire or Gimp) is very fine wire that is tightly wound into a thin spring. It is used in jewelry making as a finishing touch at the end of strung pieces, such as necklaces, bracelets, or anklets. It is extremely flexible and feels soft, almost velvety, to the touch.
Use French Bullion by cutting a short piece (1/4" - 1/2") and thread beading wire, thread or monofiliment through the center of the spring. Next, thread the spring through the finding (clasp end or jump ring) and secure as you would normally, using crimps or tying knots.
Store French Bullion in a hard plastic case to avoid kinking.
