Photographing Jewelry

Photographing my jewelry, whether to put it on my website for sale, to add a photo to Beading Help Web for a project, or just to keep a record of my work, has always been a challenge for me.

I think I'm getting better...I realize the need to take multiple photos and sometimes use Photoshop to enhance (never misrepresent!) my photos...but I'm still anxious to learn better ways to take pictures.

Yesterday I got to watch my friend Lynn Bowes take some pictures of her jewelry - she takes a unique approach of using branches, twigs, leaves and other organic material to help display earrings, bracelets and necklaces. Her photos are clean, crisp, and I learned quite a bit by picking her brain and observing her techniques. Check out Lynn's great photos on her Etsy Shop, SilverWorks.

So I've posted a couple of photos that I took today. I'd like to get a small light tent, but have been put off by the price of a set up...Lynn suggested checking eBay, where she'd gotten hers, and I believe I will!

Like I said, I think I'm getting better, but there's always room for improvement.
