Fall 2007-Winter 2008 Jewelry Fashion Trends

Overall Trends:

I'm reading that both 60's and 80's influences are in this season, but the overall trend is definitely BIGGER! Think chunky, oversized pieces that speak for themselves. Less is more; follow Coco Chanel's advice and remove one accessory before heading out the door.

public domain from usda.govColors:

Lots to choose from, with designers focusing on what can accent the basic neutrals without overpowering. Look for lots of mix and match — blacks with reds and yellows or jewel tones; Cashmere Rose paired with violet and glossy white; regal tones such as deep red, royal blue and warm amber together in one piece.

Neutrals: Black and brown are classic staples that blend with anything or stand alone.

Jewel and regal tones: Think anything that would look good in velvet — deep reds, royal blues, warm ambers, rich violets and greens.

Pantone's Top 5 Picks: Chili Pepper Red, Stargazer, Green Moss, Purple Wine, Cashmere Rose.

Necklaces:

Layers are good in any length this fall. Use multiple textures, stones, and media to keep it interesting, including mixing textiles and chain.

Another hot trend in necklaces is a strong, simple pendant hung from a thick strand of beads or ropy chain. Stands alone, or use layering to dress it up if you'd like.

Every designer is touting cuffs and bangles this season. Anything goes as far as materials, but bold and imaginative are key to fashion success. Mix and stack bangles for a chunkier look.

Rings:

Big, oversized cocktail rings are what you need this year. Stick to one or two rings and flash your hands around a lot while you are talking!

Earrings:

Hang up the Chandeliers! Long earrings are still hot, but stick to more streamlined, sleeker designs and hoops. Think outside the circle with hoops — squares, arrowheads, triangles with embellishments such as dangles, clusters and fringes.
