Mothers Bracelet With Charm
Mother's Bracelets are very popular, and not just for "mom"! Bracelets with names or initials of children, grandchildren, special friends or loved ones are completely unique and carry great personal meaning. Here is a Mother's Bracelet with a ribbon charm attached.
Level: Easy
Materials
Sterling, vermeil, or pewter letter beads
Sterling or gold-plated 3mm wafers
Assorted sterling and vermeil bead caps, spacers and beads
Swarovski crystal birthstone wheel beads
Sterling or gold ribbon charm, with split ring attached
Beading wire
Magnetic clasp
Safety chain (optional)
Two sterling crimp beads
Cut beading wire to 1 ½" longer than the bracelet length.
Begin by laying out the letters of your name on a bead board or table. Place one wafer bead between each letter, they will serve to space out and hold the letter beads in place. String the letters and wafers on the beading wire carefully so they don't slide off. Ensure the letters are all right side up and in the right order!
Next, using your silver and gold spacers, bead caps, beads, and the birthstone crystals, create a pattern on both sides of the letter beads at the same time. I bead two-three beads on the right side, and then repeat the pattern on the left side; this ensures that both sides match, and I am able to periodically check length to be sure the bracelet is not getting too long. Add the ribbon charm near the end of the bracelet on one side only.
When your bracelet is the desired length, tape or use a binder clip to one end to keep the beads from sliding off. Be sure you have left enough free wire to allow you to crimp that end to the clasp! On the free end, thread one crimp bead and then thread the wire through the loop on the magnetic clasp. Rethread the wire through the crimp bead and 1-2 additional beads. Crimp and clip excess wire. Repeat for other side.
If desired, add a length of safety chain, attaching to the clasp loops with jump rings. I use metalicized plastic chain as it will not stick to the magnetic clasp.
