Team Spirit Choker
Teens love to show support for their favorite school team, and this easy necklace is stylish and fun! Add a charm that represents the school's mascot as a focal or on a necklace extended if you'd like. The number of beads will need to be adjusted based on how many letters are in the school's name.
Level: Beginner
Materials
Beading wire
Small porcelain letter beads (available from Rings N Things)
6mm sterling silver or silver plated round beads (58+ depending on the number of letter beads and the length of the necklace)
6mm Swarovski crystal bicones in school colors (2)
Crimp beads (2)
Clasp
Optional: Necklace extender, school mascot charm
Cut beading wire approximately 4 inches longer than you want the final necklace length to be. For a teen, the average length of a choker necklace is 14 inches. I like to use a binder clip on one end of the wire initially to keep the beads from falling off while I am stringing.
Lay out porcelain letter beads to spell out "Go Eagles" (substitute your school name or mascot). Add a silver round bead between the two words. String the porcelain beads and silver round bead on the beading wire. Optional: Use two round beads between words and string a charm between the two round beads as a focal pendant.
Remove the binder clip, and hold on to both ends of the wire. String Swarovski crystals at the beginning and end of the letter beads. Continue to string additional round silver beads until the necklace is the desired length.
Put the binder clip at one end of the wire while you add the clasp. Add one end of the clasp by stringing a crimp bead, going through the clasp ring and going back through the crimp and 1-2 beads. Crimp the crimp bead, testing the hold before clipping excess wire. Repeat on other side after removing binder clip.
Optional: Use a necklace extender chain on one end of the necklace, adding a charm to the end of the chain.
